Joined WRAF on 25 10 ’66.
Following basic training, Clk Sec 1/67, I arrived at Shinfield in March ’67 along with Liz Owen and Jenny Lawson and we were accommodated in the WRAF block.
I was in a room next to Sue Glover who was the first of our crowd to pass her driving test. No mean feat!
I was employed in the HQ FTC Air Staff Registry along with two civvies, Cyril and Olive (yes, those were their real names). Along with Jill Parkin, I met Dame Felicity Hill during a visit to the station.
I represented the station at Netball and we went to RAF Syerston for the Command Trials (Sandy, Grace, Jill, Fiona and Jan) – can’t remember if anyone was selected.
During a trip to a dance at RAF Odiham with Jan N and Sue G, I met John. And the rest as they say, is history. Where has the time gone?
