The news that Roy had died came with this email from his nephew Glen Harman on 23 Feb 2022 and later on 19 Mar 2022.

I hope you don't mind me writing.

My uncle, who has now passed, was at Shinfield Park for his National Service. I am assuming this was 1950 or after from his age. His name was Roy Scott. My brother recalls uncle Roy and my father going to the weather centre entrance and discussing in the Black Boy after. This would have been late 70s or early 80s. They would not have been aware of the Lodge entrance I don't think. We don't know what my uncle was doing, but my brother recalls him saying he served Douglas Bader in the bar. Are there any records of personnel? As I said my uncle passed a few years ago and only now I see there is quite an active reunion circle, which is a real shame. I live locally in Earley and it would be interesting to know any details. I'm going through images I've found on the website looking for Roy.

I found a photo on the website of the hockey club in 1952. One of the team looks remarkably like my uncle Roy, though this would have been a long time before I was born even. As I said it's a shame Roy wasn't aware of this club whilst he was still alive. As it happens I am now friends with the owner of the Officers Mess, who put me onto this site.

I copied in Alan Causon to this correspondence and received the following reply on 20 Mar 2022.

Dear Andre, I have forwarded the relevant Correspondence to Roy Whiteman. If he is unable to put a face to Roy Scott I am afraid that unfortunately neither of us can be of any help!!
